RG146: Tier II ASIC compliance
Completion of this short course will enable the participant to comply with the standards of RG 146 Tier II under ASIC requirements. Participants will receive a statement of attainment from the Certificate III in Financial Services stating successful completion of 3 units of competency.
Tier II certification is an ASIC requirement for anyone who provides advice to retail clients.
This course will enable you to meet your RG146: Tier II ASIC compliance obligations.
There are two courses in the Tier II program; learners can choose to do both or they may be completed separately:
Course 1 – Providing General advice and personal advice on deposit products.
The topics in this course include:
- The role of an Advisor
- Client Relationships
- Client Needs & Solutions
- Applications, documents, and processes
- Disputes and Complaints
To successfully complete the Deposit Products course learners must attain 100% in the final online quiz and satisfactorily pass a telephone role-play.
The units included are:
- FNSASIC301 Establishing client relationship and analyse needs
- FNSASIC302 Develop, present and negotiate client solutions
- FNSIAD301 Provide general advice on financial products and services
This is the RG146 Tier II program and is priced at $395
Course 2 – Providing General advice and personal advice on insurance products.
This course is available as an addition to the Tier II - Providing General advice and personal advice on deposit products. You can not complete this course as a stand alone program.
The topics include:
- The role of an Advisor in regards to providing advice to clients in general insurance
- Building a client profile
- Different types of insurance and when to not give and give advice
- Communicating with clients about insurance
This is the General Insurance course and is priced at $295
Who is it for?
Entry Level Staff who advise on financial services products, provide advice to clients, negotiate with clients and services providers, or handle customer complaints.
Entry requirements
No entry-level requirements for the Tier II RG 146 ASIC compliance course.
What skills will be gained?
Upon successful completion of this qualification, you should be able to demonstrate:
- How to establish relationships with clients and analyse their needs
- To develop, present and negotiate client solutions
- Skills and knowledge to provide advice to retails clients in foundation areas of financial services.
Duration
The course duration is 6 months however, the qualification can also be achieved in a shorter period of time.
The time it takes for different people to obtain the competencies will vary depending on such things as work experience and prior learning. Nevertheless, it is estimated that the 'average' student should be able to complete the qualification in approximately 4 hours a week of study.

These assessments vary depending on the unit within the qualification and can include the following:

- Verbal assessment, by way of an interview with your trainer
- Observation by a trainer
- Supervisor checklists
